Workshops & Seminars
My next writing workshop will be
“Solitude and Story: A
Contemplative Writing Workshop,” (co-conducted
with Dianne Aprile, at the
Bernheim
Arboretum and Research Forest in Clermont, Kentucky, from 17-18 May
2008.
Dianne and I will
lead this weekend workshop in the intimate setting of a rustic house in
Bernheim Forest. We will stay overnight at The Bean House, a private
two-story home in a wooded area near streams and walking paths. The
tranquil nature of Bernheim will allow participants to create their own
pieces of reflective writing. The focus will be on producing short
pieces, either finished or ready to be incorporated into longer works.
Poets and prose writers, alike, are welcome to apply. Sleeping spots in
the house are limited. However, commuters are welcome, and other
accommodations are available in nearby Bardstown.
The workshop,
which will include four meals, costs $250.00. For more information, or
to apply by email with attached samples of your work:
dian(at)sheaf.win.net (replace (at) with @). Or mail application and
writing sample to Bernheim Workshop, 2051 Johnson Road, Louisville, KY
40245.
Also, I’m
currently available
to give talks on my experiences in Asia, particularly my four years of living and working in Central Asia (Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan). Topics can include, but are not limited to, Arts and
Culture, Education, the Natural Environment, Politics, Religion, Society,
etc. If desired, this talk can be accompanied by a slide show featuring
many of the photos on this website.
Below is a list of workshops and
seminars I’ve conducted in the past. For more information about those, or
to make arrangements for a speaking engagement or workshop for your group
